This year’s Toy & Hobby China and Baby & Stroller China events registered a 21 per cent increase in visitors, with the international zone cited as a major pull.
Together, the two events recorded 48,521 visitors, a 21 per cent increase compared to 2015 and a new record for the fair.
International visitors was up 126 per cent to 2,345, with the top ten countries and regions being Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, the US, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam and India.
Buyers came from 68 countries and regions to source from 1,006 exhibitors from ten countries and regions, with both fairs covering an area of 75,200 gross sqm.
“The strong praise for the International Zone from both exhibitors and buyers, which was nearly universal, really exceeded our expectations given it was making its debut appearance," said Wendy Wen, senior general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.
"Speaking with exhibitors during the fairs, there was a wide range of reasons for their satisfaction, so this gives us confidence that this zone can be a very effective platform for all sectors of the toy and baby product industry as we continue to expand the zone in the coming years.
“We believe the strong increase in buyers this year was due to a few reasons, including the greater diversity of suppliers at the fair, strong market demand in China at present, and the increased internationality of exhibitors due to the International Zone. We expect as this zone grows that we will continue to attract more overseas exhibitors and buyers to what is already one of China’s top events in this industry.”
