Arklu gives children the chance to get their art featured on new Lottie doll box

An art exhibition at West London art space Maxilla Walk Studios will see the launch of an global art competition for children by toy development company, Arklu, creators of the award-winning Lottie dolls.

The Lottie’s A-muse-ing Story Competition gives six children the chance see their artwork come to life, with the winning artwork designs included in the Always Artsy Lottie doll box.

The Always Artsy Lottie doll will launch in Autumn 2016, and will contain Lottie’s painting accessories of paintbrush, palette, paint, easel and real child-created artwork. The proposed packaging for the ‘Always Artsy’ Lottie doll shows an easel, on which the winning child-created artwork will be placed.

The competition is asking children to draw what it is that makes them special and unique: a drawing of their favourite food, animal, planet or place.

“We are big believers that children can be expressive and creative through art and craft activities, so launching the art competition at an exhibition by ‘real life’ artists and creatives, including several female artists, is fantastic," said Lucie Follett, Arklu’s co-founder and creative director.

"Maxilla Studios is keen to strengthen artistic links with the local community, and this is a great way to do exactly that, as well as build on incorporating Arklu’s use of crowdsourced – ‘child-sourced’ designs into the Lottie doll development.”

Local children in RBKC are being encouraged to enter, with children at the Golborne & Maxilla Children’s Centre and also the Westway Trust’s children’s activity projects taking part in the competition.

The closing date for competition submissions is Monday, April 4th 2016.
