Vintage robot toy auction set to fetch in £40,000

Hundreds of vintage toy robots are being put up for sale in an auction taking place in Teesside today.

An American Flash Gordon spaceship and a 1939 Japanese Lilliput robot star in the Out of this World collection of almost 1,000 toys, which also include plastic robots, flying saucers and rockets.

The collection has been created by a couple from the North East of the UK, who have been building on their assortment for the past 40 years.

The range is expected to fetch up to between £30,000 and £40,000, as auctioneer and valuer Andy Reed, said: “Sci-fi, space and robots are very sought after,” reports Sky News.

"There are not many collections of this size and this is the biggest one we have handled in the last 20 years.

"We think 70 per cent of these will go outside the UK, perhaps back to the USA and Japan."
