McDonald’s introduces VR headsets to Happy Meal boxes in Sweden

Virtual Reality is continuing its play for the toy space as McDonald’s outlets across Sweden detail plans to feature VR goggles with its Happy Meals.

The Google Cardboard-like goggles will be able to be assembled from the Happy Meal packaging, allowing kids or parents to place a mobile phone within to experience VR.

The device – scheduled to land in 14 McDonald’s outlets across Sweden from March 5th – will arrive with its own VR game called Slope Wars, developed by North Kingdom Stockholm and tied with Sweden’s traditional holiday, Sportlov.

The fast-food chain has stated that as it prepares for its first trial run on an international level, VR ‘provides a really exciting opportunity to connect families in digital times.’
