Harry Potter named number one World Book Day costume on eBay.co.uk

Harry Potter has emerged as the most searched for World Book Day fancy dress costumes on the online trading site eBay.co.uk.

As schools across the country prepare to celebrate one of the world’s favourite bookish events on March 3rd, the digital marketplace has revealed details of its most searched for costumes of 2016.

More than 26,000 people have searched for World Book Day costumes and World Book Day fancy dress in the last week alone, with Harry Potter emerging as the most sought after.

More than 12,000 searches for Harry Potter costumes have been documented in the last week by eBay.co.uk, with sales of Harry Potter related products reaching as much as 90 per hour in the last three months.

Meanwhile, Alice in Wonderland – a children’s title that celebrated its 150th anniversary in the UK last year – has placed second in the tables, with nearly 8,300 searches for Alice in Wonderland fancy dress last week alone.

According to the digital platform, more than 650 Alice in Wonderland products are selling every day.

Aloof wanderer, Where’s Wally however, has placed as the third most searched for World Book Day costume, with just over 8,100 searches over the same period.
