Spielwarenmesse 2016 sees success with ‘more orders placed at show than before’

Spielwarenemesse 2016 has enjoyed one of its most successful shows to date, with more orders placed at the annual trade fair than before.

The success of the show that took place between January 27th and February 1st and welcomed a total of 70,714 trade buyers form across the globe, has been credited to the presence of ‘genuine innovation and ideas’ in today’s toy market.

More than 75,000 new products were showcased at Spielwarenmesse 2016 with a total of 344 companies submitting over 600 products to the ToyAward 2016 awards, a vast increase on the number seen over previous years.

Of the overall visitor numbers at this year’s Spielwarenmesse, it was the home market that made up the vast amount, with 29,430 attending this year’s show and making up 781 of the total number of exhibitors.

According to the latest NPD figures, the German toy market has seen steady growth in recent years, increasing by 7.5 per cent throughout 2015, while the global toy market saw a rise of 6.9 per cent.

Spielwarenmesse will return in 2017, taking place from February 1st to 6th.
