SoccerStarz and Panini team for Euro 2016 football figure line

SoccerStarz has teamed with collectables specialist Panini to launch the first Panini Superstars of Football figures.

The collection will launch to coincide with this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France.

Panini has secured the rights from UEFA for the Euro 2016 tournament as well as individual player rights and will be selling the Panini Superstars of Football figures alongside its Euro 2016 sticker collection.

The figure collection features one player from all 24 teams playing in this summer’s tournament.

“This project created unique problems for us,” said Mark Stinchcombe, head of toy division at Creative Toys Company, creators of SoccerStarz.

“The objective was to have one player from every team, which meant the line up couldn’t be finalized until the end of October with the last game of the play-offs.

“We then had to sculpt the players and get them approved in record time. At its peak we had almost 1,000 workers in China manufacturing Panini Superstars of Football for us.

“Thankfully the last 8 containers of figures shipped out just before the factory shut down for Chinese New Year. We had to overcome numerous problems along the way not the least of which was finding suitable reference images of some of the players for the Soccerstarz sculptors to work on.”

Peter Warsop, Panini Group licensing director, added: “I have been really impressed with the professionalism of the SoccerStarz team. We think the likenesses are superb and I am sure collectors will love these figures.

“The Panini Superstars of Football figures really complement our range and will be sold along with stickers from the Official Euro 2016 sticker album collections.”
