Esdevium parent company Asmodee acquires Settlers of Catan

Esdevium parent company, Asmodee has acquired the worldwide English-language publishing and brand rights to Settlers of Catan.

The new acquisition has lead to the creation of Catan Studio, for which the key function will be to develop and grow the popular Catan brand.

Invented in 1995 by Klaus Teuber, the award-winning Settlers of Catan game has sol more than 23 million copies and is translated into 35 languages. Today, Catan is an internationally recognised gaming brand, with English-language today representing over 50 per cent of the worldwide yearly sales.

“Catan is one of the giants of modern board gaming and naturally we are delighted to add it to our portfolio,” said Esdevium Games’ managing director, Steve Buckmaster.

“We are looking forward to working closely on Catan and developing the brand even further moving forward.”
