First things first, don’t be alarmed at the above image. It will be explained and she is okay.

So, Happy New Year everyone (I think I can still get away with saying that, Friday feels like an acceptable cut-off).

Hopefully you had a great Christmas, ate too much, drank an innappropiate amount and of course, played some great games and gifted many a toy.

Despite the ToyNews not spending Christmas together (I did ask, but Rob and Jade thought it would be ‘a bit weird’ apparently), we did our bit to support our friendly neighbourhood indie toy inventors.

While Jade supported the classics with crimbo rounds of Twister, Trivial Pursuit and Battleships, Rob spent Christmas morning playing the new indie card game Go F**k Yourself ("my nan loved it").

Elsewhere, I turned to my trusty copy of Behrooz Shahriari’s In A Bind on Christmas Day, which remains just as amazing as when I first played it back in its prototype stage at a Board Game Club event last year (it was scribbled onto a pack of High School Musical Top Trumps back then).

I even have evidence of my best mate’s mum getting stuck into the game (literally – there’s biting involved). Nice use of the bracelet, Gill (see below):

And this marks the first Inventors Bulletin of 2016, and it promises to be another exciting year for our arm concerning the global toy and game inventor community.

The Inventors Workshop will return later this year, and over the next few weeks we’ll be bringing you some exciting development regarding a few delegates who came to last year’s event.

It remains one of the highlights of our year and having already secured a few conference talks, this year’s event promises to be a doozy. It’ll once again give people the chance to pitch their toy and game ideas directly to some of the industry’s top companies. Following Gillian Logan’s success with Skinny Sketcher back in 2014, and the soon to be announced success stories from last year, we’re confident that this year will once again result in some exciting new partnerships and products.

We’ll also be continuing to bring you news, interviews and opinion pieces from first time creators to the biggest names in the inventor community throughout the year via our weekly Inventors Bulletin, and we’d love for you to get involved.

If you have any thoughts on what you’d like to see at this year’s Workshop, or if you’re an inventor with a story to tell, do drop myself, Rob or Jade an email. Or give us a call on 01992 535646.

Whether you want to share your thoughts on our inventor coverage, ask how you can get involved or if you just want to know where Gill got that rather fetching chair, we’re always happy to chat.

Here’s to another fun year.
