Easy A, Transformers and Community writers to pen new scripts for Barbie movie

Sony is weighing up three new scripts in its ongoing development of a live action Barbie movie.

Variety reports that having been ‘underwhelmed’ by an effort from Juno writer Diablo Cody, the studio is now looking at scripts from Bert Royal, Hilary Winston and Lindsey Beer.

Royal wrote the script for popular teen film Easy A, Winston is a TV writer for the likes of Community and Bad Teacher while Beer was part of the recent Transformers writers’ room, which helped create the outline for the future of the franchise.

Barbie is scheduled to hit cinemas in June 2017.
