Toy sales in Britain have increased almost five per cent versus the same period last year, with collectables taking the biggest slice of the pie this year.
LEGO Minifigures and Flair’s Shopkins have placed number one and two in the top ten selling toys in Great Britain, January to December 6th 2015, respectively.
However, of the categories showing the most growth n terms of sales overall include Action Figures and Accessories which have seen a 19 per cent lift over the last 12 months, Plush that has risen 13 per cent and Building Sets that have increased by 12 per cent.
Of the top ten selling toy in Great Britain for 2015, LEGO laced twice with its Minifigures and Disney Frozen Elsa Sparkling Ice Castle, while the star of this year’s viral video sensation, Pie Face places at number eight of the top ten under the Hasbro portfolio.
“2015 has been a strong year for the British toy market to date and the NPD group expects the year to finish up five per cent after similar increase in 2014,” said Frederique Tutt, global toy industry analyst with The NPD Group.
“Branded and licensed toys with traditional play patterns have been the key drivers behind the market performance, with collectable toys topping the charts.”
