Not ones to skip tradition, LEGO has unveiled this year’s annual Christmas build as a 500,000 brick train pulls into Covent Garden Piazza.
The LEGO Santa Express marks the fifth consecutive year of building a Christmas spectacular in London and features three carriages, the engine and driver’s cabin, a carriage full of presents and a Christmas tree.
Covent Garden’s LEGO Christmas story first started in 2011 with the installation of a 30 meter high LEGO Christmas Tree and was followed annually by the Giant Advent Calendar, a walk-through Snow Globe featuring a snowy London scene and last year’s Santa’s Sleigh and Reindeer.
Not only does this year’s build include a carriage of presents, but comes complete with special effects including smoke from the funnel, sounds and lights.
The masterpiece was created over a three-month period by the UK’s only LEGO certified professional, Duncan Titmarsh, who lead a team of eight builders on the project.
The LEGO Santa Express will take pride of place in London’s Covent Garden from November 26th to December 29th 2015.
