Hasbro’s Andrew Brown to raise £10k for Toy Trust with latest endurance challenge

Not content with rowing across the Atlantic four years ago, Hasbro’s Andrew Brown is embarking on another challenge to raise £10k for the Toy Trust.

The company’s brand manager has now outlined his plans to cycle the length of New Zealand, from Cape Regina to Bluff, covering a distance of 2,000km.

Brown will climb hills and mountains over the height of Everest in his 7,500 calories a day exertion all in the name of charity, aiming to cycle 200km a day in order to complete the challenge in just ten days.

Commencing the challenge on December 23rd this year, Brown won’t break for Christmas or New Years Day as he sets out to raise a total of £10,000 for the toy industry charity, the Toy Trust.

“The purpose of the ride is not only to test my own endurance, but to raise £10,000 for two great charities that do incredible work for causes extremely close to my heart,” said Brown.

“One of these charities is the Toy Trust, a charity that I have supported since starting my career in the toy industry six years ago. This year has seen a focus of bringing joy and happiness to children with severe disabilities through its Special Kids…Going Places theme.”

The second charity is the Matthew Elvidge Trust, a group set up to help increase the awareness of depression in young people.

“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank my title sponsors Generation Media, Europe’ largest kids’ communications company, for it support in this challenge as well as a massive thanks to Hasbro and Norman Global Logistics, together with the generosity of many other individuals we have got off to a great start for the fundraising.”

Foye Pascoe, chair of the Toy Trust Charity Committee, added: “While every fundraising effort made by industry people for the Toy Trust are invaluable, I think we can all agree that Andrew’s own personal endeavours have been truly remarkable.

“On behalf of the charity, we wish him every luck in the feat and hope the fundraising for our own charity and the Matthew Elvidge Trust goes well.”
