The Rocking Horse named Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month

Based in Bowness-On-Windermere, The Rocking Horse is a traditional toy shop run by mother and daughter partnership Marlyn and Amanda Griffiths.

Specialising in wooden and educational toys, they offer something different to the range of toys normally found on the High Street. Toys are carefully selected based on their quality, play and educational value. The store caters for both tourists and local customers, with a popular loyalty card available for local customers, as well as a free delivery service on a range of items.

The Rocking Horse likes to support events in the local community, with lots of plans for the festive season. They are currently running a Christmas Card Competition with local schools, and are supporting Jigsaw, a local children’s hospice, with activities and donations on the run up to Christmas.

They will also be donating a prize for the Best Dressed Pram in the Jingle Bell Jog, a local charity fundraising run.

Amanda Griffiths said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month.

“Having only moved to our current location in March this year, we have been overwhelmed by the positive response we’ve received from both tourists and local customers.”

Lucy Moody, head of retail relations at Fundamentally Children, added: “We are delighted to offer Retailer of the Month to The Rocking Horse in Bowness. They stock some of our favourite toys and put a lot of effort into organising great local fundraising events.”
