Treasures of Wetherby named Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month

Indie toy store, Treasures of Wetherby has been named the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month for November.

In the same month that sees the West Yorkshire toy retailer declared a finalist in the Progressive Preschool awards, Treasures has been championed by the Good Toy Guide team for its dedication to customer service.

With mini shopping trolleys for children, the Treasures express train travelling around the top of the shop and the play tables to entertain youngsters, the retailer aims to delight all of its visitors.

Boasting a range of toys across wooden lines, craft kits, puzzles and Steiff Bears along with some of the leading toy brands, Treasures is a key player in local community events.

This year in fact saw Treasures invite Wetherby’s local Karate group to the shop to help celebrate the launch of LEGO Ninjago. Kids were encouraged to take part in a karate demonstration and enter competitions.

Earlier this year, Treasures teamed with local celebrity and Yorkshire cricketer Ryan Sidebottom to help raise money for a children’s hospice.

“Every child had a dip in the Treasures Treasure Chest and got a special gift. There were also lots of new toys on our activities table for children to test out. This was a really successful, fun day and we raised £300 for a very worthy cause,” said Zhara Armstrong, owner of Treasures.

Lucy Moody, head of retail relations at Fundamentally Children, added: “As a child I remember my local toy shop having a train running around the top of shelves, it created a visual that was magical and 30 years on I still remember that toy shop over and above others.

“Displays like these are quite rare now, but great to see some shops still find value in them.”
