Online destination for the more unusual toys and gadgets, has unveiled its first High Street pop-up store in Newcastle.

The retailer’s first foray into the bustle of Newcastle’s high street shopping culture saw it open its doors to customers on October 24th in its Intu Metrocentre.

The store showcases the company’s signature unusual offering of toys and games as well as homewares, consumer tech and food. Popular products include its VW Campervan Tents, Unicorn Night Lights, Slush Cuppies, Wilson balls from the film Castaway and party games such as Linkee and Obama Llama.

In a nod to popular culture, the store is also showcasing licensed album artwork including prints of David Bowie, The Beatles and The Jam.

Kris Bromley, managing director at, said: “We are all mega excited to launch our first pop-up store. We have been the Shop for the Unusual online for 17 years, so it is really cool that we now get to do it in the real world.

“We are looking forward to this new challenge and to getting to meet our customers – new and old. We want this store to be the first of many, so we’ll be working hard to make it a true Firebox experience.”

Firebox has now detailed its plans to expand its brand presence in the high street further in 2016.’s Newcastle store will be trading until January 4th, 2015.
