The LEGO Group is investing $800m in a major expansion of its factory in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.
Plans for the seven-year-old factory will create as many as 3,000 new jobs.
Construction will begin before the end of the year, with the new manufacturing capacity being completed in 2018.
The factory will be tasked with moulding LEGO System bricks, and processing and packaging.
The existing plant measures 150,000 square meters, and could be increased to 340,000, depending on sales.
