To add insult to injury, the action figure is called 'Bastian'.

Manchester United’s Bastian Schweinsteiger tackles toy firm over Nazi figure likeness

Manchester United footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger is hoping to stop Hong Kong toy firm DiD Corp from selling its Nazi soldier action figure, as the German midfielder believes it’s based on his likeness.

The action figure is even called Bastian, but DiD Corp claims the similar appearance and name are coincidental.

"We don’t sell any figures which resemble footballers," DiD’s Patrick Chan told Bild.

"It is a complete coincidence that the figure ‘Bastian’ looks like Schweinsteiger. We think that all Germans look like that. Bastian is also a very common name in Germany."

The MailOnline claims the footballer has begun proceedings to stopp the dolls being distributed.

"This is a clear violation of Schweinsteiger’s personality rights" added media lawyer Ulrich Amelung.

"To see him as a swastika-bearing Wehrmacht soldier also constitutes a gross defamation and insult."
