After more than 30 years, John and Sharon Fielding are to retire from the family-run business

Historic toy shop Langleys finds new owners

Historic toy shop, Langleys Toy has found new owners after its current proprietors revealed intent to retire from the 30-year family business.

After over one generation of manning the Norfolk toy retailer, John and Sharon Fielding have handed the keys to the store that has occupied Norwich’s Royal Arcade since 1883.

Steven and Julie Schusman will now take over the mantle of helming one of the region’s most iconic stores as of Friday, October 30th this year.

The changeover will occur sooner than originally speculated when Fielding revealed his intentions to retire from the family business in January this year.

Having been bought in 1971 by Tom Fielding, his son John expected to pass Langleys on to new owners by mid-2016. Fielding, who until the end of the month runs Langleys with his wife Sharon, first began work in the shop under his father as an 11-year-old schoolboy in 1973.

The Toymaster buying group has wished both John and Sharon well in their retirement.
