A new king of Rummikub has been crowned, as the Rummikub UK Championships came to a close this past weekend.
London’s Paul Hebden successfully vanquished tough competition to be appointed the new Rummikub UK Champion at an event held at Stratford’s John Lewis store on Saturday, October 10th.
Hebden will now go on to represent the UK at the World Championships, alongside fellow Rummikub Champions from around the world.
“I still can’t believe it, I have only been playing Rummikub since Boxing Day last year and now I am the UK Champion,” said the victor.
“In the last nine months, I have been practicing and playing online. I am just so happy and proud to be representing the UK at the World Championships.”
Organised by John Adams, this year’s Rummikub UK Championships took place at the John Lewis store in Startford Westfield Centre in a triennial event that attracted finalists from across the UK.
“Rummikub is such an iconic family board game which has been played and loved by generations, so for us to be involved with organizing the event has been very exciting,” said Lynette Norris, marketing manager at John Adams.
“This is the first time we have been part of the Rummikub Championships and we are thrilled with the results. Congratulations to Paul on being the new UK Champion.
“We are really looking forward to seeing him represent the UK at the Worlds Champiuonships in Berlin.”
Now in its 24th year, the 2015 World Championships will take place in Berlin where the crowned Champion will be awarded the Rummikub World Cup.
The winner also claims an around the world trip as part of the grand prize.
