Fundamentally Children's Amanda Gummer and Georgina Dalton flew to Cologne last week to sample the delights of this year's Kind und Jugend.

Fundamentally Children on the best and wurst at Kind und Jugend 2015

The experts at Fundamentally Children are always on the lookout for innovative new products to help children develop and thrive, as well as any to help parents feel more confident about their parenting.

It was therefore great to see that there were lots of fantastic products on display (as well as a variety of bratwurst on the menu) at this year’s Kind und Jugend Show, held in Cologne last week.

As well as being thrilled to catch up with existing clients such as Cicada and Rainbow Designs (it’s always rewarding to see the Good Toy Guide plaques on display), we found lots of companies making great toys.

So, we decided to invite a select few for a free product evaluation by our team of testers at the Good Toy Guide.

It was great to see the reaction from German companies (as well as other international brands looking to break into the UK) who already have a similar guide for consumers to find good toys, and were very positive about how much an endorsement from the Good Toy Guide would help their products in the UK market.

Products we were really excited to try out include Plan toys’ wooden, toddler drum and cymbal set, four-walls Teepee from Asweets’ range of teepees and play tents and Oliba, a great interactive music and story toy that has the added benefit of helping parents find that precious comforter.

Elsewhere, new teethers from Gummee Glove, Vatool a construction system from Bpaable and Fat Brain toys’ stackable Tobbles Neo were particular highlights.

We were also delighted to discover the Buildex Activity table with art, puppet show and construction inserts from Kids Preferred and the world’s smallest phone called Wristy designed to give parents confidence in letting their kids play outside.

A new range of combined wooden and synthetic teething toys from the design team at Little Big Things piqued our interest while the new Kiddopotamus range (as well as being a fun word to say) included some fun baby and toddler toys from Summer Infant.

All of these products will be invited for a free test and we are really excited to see what our team of testers make of them.
