The discount retailer has joined the e-commerce movement with its first transactional website with no minimum order value.

Poundland trials its first e-commerce site

Poundland has made its first foray into e-commerce with the trial launch of its first transactional website.

The site has been launched in response to growing consumer demand and market research and features more than 2000 items all with the fixed price of £1.

The site carries no minimum order value and delivery costs a flat £4 unless shoppers spend more than £50 when delivery is free. A click and collect trial is planned for 2016.

Jim McCarthy, Poundland chief executive, said: “We are very pleased to have launched online. We now have over 550 stores across the UK which provide customers with magic moments when they find amazing value products at our famous £1 price point.

“Our online channel will make shopping even easier, it’s convenient and caters for shoppers who may not yet have a Poundland nearby, but who still want to benefit from the amazing value and remarkable treasure trove of lines we offer.”

Poundland has been working with ecommerce agency, Ampersand on the launch of the site.
