Brickstuff is a new lighting system for brick construction toys such as LEGO.

Scotland’s Curious Minds named sole EU retailer for Brickstuff

Award-winning Scottish indie, Curious Minds has become the sole European retailer for Brickstuff, a lighting system for construction toys.

Created in the US, Brickstuff has already built a fan base across Asia and America and is now gearing up for its European launch.

The brainchild of US inventor and construction toy enthusiast, Rob Klingberg, Brickstuff allows kids to fit lighting systems to their construction toy ranges, such as LEGO buildings, with LED lights and effects.

The company offers a range of around 50 products with new ideas and concepts currently in development.

Curious Minds owner, Dr. Wendy Hamilton, said: “We are so excited to be working with Brickstuff to bring their inventive range of LED lights and effects to European customers.”

Hamilton first met Klingberg at last year’s Chicago toy fair.

“Our man at the show, Gareth Davies was as excited as I have ever seen him about anything,” continued Hamilton. “It’s finally here and on our shelves and we can’t wait to hear what the brick community is going to build.”

Klingberg, added: “We are very excited to have teamed up with Curious Minds to reach our fans in Europe and look forward to sharing our Small Lights for Big Ideas with them.”

Klingberg set out on hi mission to launch Brickstuff in 2011 when his kids took an interest in LEGO building, but noticed that many of the lighting systems available were not suitable for their constructs.

“I set out to create a system that worked together, where people could add amazing, lifelike effects to their work without needing to do any soldering or needing to know anything about electronics.

“Since then business has continued to grow to the point that we shipped products to 34 countries in 2014.”

Brickstuff lays claim to ‘having the thinnest wires on the market, which allow bricks to be snapped together with the wires fully concealed.’

“We work directly with many of the leading LEGO builders worldwide, including several LEGO Master Builders, and will ne making an increased commitment to creating documentation, high-quality online content and book focused on lighting for LEGO builders in the coming year.”
