James J Osborne, owner of Osbornes Sports & Toys, passed away on Friday, July 31st 2015 following a short illness.

Osborne, known as Jim, was a tireless worker and having recently celebrated 60 years in business, did not find the time to retire.

He opened Osbornes Sports & Toys in Rushden in 1955 aged just 23 and was a founder member of Toymaster when the group commenced trading in 1978.

‘Jim was extremely active in the local community serving on the committee of the Rotary Club and was president of the Rushden Museum for several years,’ read a statement from Toymaster.

‘He was a pillar of local society devoting his time and money to local charities and organisations. Our thoughts are with Pamela, William and all the family at this sad time.’
