Parrot unveils ‘next generation of connected robots’

Parrot has unveiled its ‘next generation of connected robots’ with a collection of 13 Mini drones to conquer the skies, land and water.

The range, titled Evolution, features a cast of connected toys to be piloted with a Smartphone or tablet via the free app.

The Evolution collection made its UK debut at a launch event in London, where parrot showcased the capabilities of all 13 items.

The Jumping drones each boast the ability to roll, zigzag, turn at 90 degrees and jump up to 80cm in height and length. They can also see, listen and communicate with their pilots, thanks to in-built speakers, microphones and wide angle camera.

Meanwhile, the Airborne range consists of the Night and the Cargo. The Night can fly both day and night thanks to its controllable LEDs, while the Cargo has the ability to carry figures and toys.

Completing the collection, the range of Hydrofoil drones are flying drones attached to a hydrofoil boat, which can lift out of the water and reach the speed of 5.4 knots.

“The success of our first Minidrones, which sold more than 600,000 units, pushed us to enlarge the family of these super high-tech toys,” said Henri Seyoux, founder and CEO of Parrot.

“After reinventing the helicopter and the radio-controlled car, we are today creating a new species of drone, a super fast and unsubmersible hydrofoil.”

The range will be available to UK retailers via Parrot’s UK distributor, Flying Toys from August this year.
