Nivea teaches the importance of sunscreen with colour changing doll

As the UK prepares for its impending ‘heatwave,’ Nivea is turning to toys to help raise awareness of the importance of sunscreen, with a new doll that turns pink when exposed to the sun.

The doll is made from UV-sensitive material that gets sunburnt if it isn’t covered in sunscreen, and is designed to help parents encourage kids to protect themselves when out and about this summer.

The dolls have been created by ad agency FCB Brazil for Nivea who tested the characters on a Rio de Janeiro beach.

“Everybody knows that kids hate applying sun block,” said FCB Brazil. “That’s why we created Nivea doll, a toy that sunburns when exposed to UV rays. Kids learn the importance of skin care as they apply sun block on the doll to protect it.

“We believe that investing in educational actions is the best way to raise awareness, this is precisely the goal with the Nivea Doll.”
