Paramount Pictures has acquired the right to produce a live-action adaption of the popular toy line.

Beyblade movie in the works

Hasbro has partnered with Paramount Pictures for a movie adaptation of its popular toy brand, Beyblade.

Inspired by Hasbro’s collection of customisable toys, the live-action feature will be produced by Mary Parent through her Disruption Entertainment banner.

Modeled after the traditional Japanese fighting tops and developed by the creators of Transformers, the Beyblade have been top sellers across the globe and have spawned a roster of TV series, animated features and video games.

Deadline reports that the toy line has generated $2.5 billion in revenue for Hasbro since the firm acquired the licence to the game in 2001.

The next generation of Beyblade toys will be launched in 2017.
