Inventor Andy Allen gave Board Game Club-goers a sneak preview of his game, HexAgony, at last week’s event and they voted it the best game of the night.
The event, which took up a new residency at Brasserie 43 in Central London, played host to HexAgony ahead of the game’s official launch at UK Games Expo later this month.
A crowd of more than forty people were able to meet the inventor and try the challenging game out whilst sipping on HexAgony cocktails created especially for the occasion.
The game, which sees players compete to create as many complete hexagons as possible using red, white or blue tiles, was so popular it soon expanded onto multiple tables throughout the venue.
“What a fantastic evening and a great new venue," said Allen.
"But more than that, seeing HexAgony being played by so many people and the constructive feedback that they gave me throughout the evening, made my visit to Board Game Club totally worthwhile and exceptionally enjoyable.”
Board Game Club’s co-founder, Lesley Singleton, added: “We were pleased to see a lot of new faces this time – especially as we’ve moved to an easier-to-reach venue – plus a lot of our regulars.
“The games menu this month really got people excited – the frankly beautiful Dimension from Thames & Kosmos and the incredible Sussed! games both proved really popular and we’ll definitely be featuring those again. I personally loved seeing how one minute people could be playing quite strategically with something like HexAgony, then the next there was raucous laughter as they got stuck into Cheatwell’s new Face Race or a blush-inducing badult game like F***tionary.
"It goes to show that our hard work in selecting the correct balance of games on our menu is worthwhile – we want our guests to experience every possible gaming style and emotion, discovering new gems and making new friends.”
Board Game Club returns to Brasserie 43 on Thursday June 25th and the featured game of the night is yet to be announced.
Board Game Club co-founder and Toyologist, Peter Jenkinson, explained: “Competition for that featured spot is certainly hotting up.
"We only offer it to one title or brand per night as we don’t want to over-commercialise the events, but we have a number of inventors and bigger brands keen to exploit the opportunity for play-testing and indeed launching brand new games with us. Brasserie 43 lends itself really well to this side of things too as we have much more space to play in and with, giving brands and inventors more scope to get creative.”
Board Game Club takes place on Thursday June 25th 2015 at Brasserie 43, Cardington Street, Euston at 6pm to midnight.
The event is free but you do need to register on the guest list by emailing BoardGameClub@PlaytimePR.com or clicking here: http://tinyurl.com/mj47d45
Brands and inventors interested in getting a game on a future Board Game Club menu, or wishing to enquire about availability of the featured game spot, should email BoardGameClub@PlaytimePR.com for details.
