The Character Group has seen a record performance for the first half of the financial year, with revenue surging 178 per cent before tax.
In its results for the first six months ended February 28th 2015, the firm has seen market share continue to rise with group profit before tax hitting £8.53m, up over $5m on last year’s £3.07m.
Total revenue has risen by over £10m on last year’s results, to hit £58.16m.
According to the firm, sales have been driven by continued popularity of cornerstone brands such as Peppa Pig, Scooby Doo, Doctor Who, Fireman Sam and Weebles.
Further brands such as Teksta, The Zelfs and Minecraft have helped the firm reach ‘record results’ while the team looks forward to continued success with new additions including Clangers, Ugglys, Yummy Nummies and Teletubbies.
“I am delighted to be able to report a record performance for the first half of the current financial year,” said Richard King, executive chairman at the Character Group.
“We are very fortunate at this time to have both strength and depth across our brands. Our diverse product portfolio which we market at great price points and value for money should provide the platform for ongoing growth.
“Current trading remains very encouraging. We have had a great reception to our product portfolio from both the retailers and media.
“We expect this season’s ranges to deliver in terms of demand and sales at consumer level across both our UK and international markets.”
With four months to go to complete the financial year, the firm is confident of delivering a year of ‘solid progress to achieve current market expectations for the year ending August 31st 2015.’
