Braintree indie Kidzone Toys closes

A toy shop in Braintree has decided to close down, blaming the ‘high costs of running an independent business.’

The family-run toy store, Kidzone Toys made the announcement via its Facebook page last week.

The Braintree and Witham Times reports that former Woolworth’s employee, Lorraine Chapman and her daughter Niki McQuillan set up Kidzone Toys in 2010, but decided to close its doors for the last time due to its ‘high costs’ of running.

“It is with great sadness that we have had to close Kidzone Toys as from today, this decision was made due to the high costs of running an independent business,” read the firm’s social media statement.

“We have worked very hard to try and keep the business going over the years during these tough times, but have now unfortunately come to the end.”

The business has thanked its customers for their ‘support and loyalty’ over the toyshop’s five year tenure.

“We have made some great friends along our five year journey and had the pleasure of watching our little ones grow in to amazing children.

“So again thank you and wishing you all a very happy future.”
