Last week’s Nuremberg Toy Fair welcomed an uplift of 58 per cent in international buyers on the previous year, according to the organiser.
Since the date did not coincide with the Chinese New Year, more Asian buyers attended the show – which ran from January 28th to February 1st. However, fewer German retailers made the trip (thought to be down to the current economic and political situation), while exhibitors also noted the decline in Eastern European buyers (there were 51 per cent fewer Russian trade visitors).
Around 72,000 visitors in total walked through the doors (2014: 75,888), with 2,857 exhibitors from 67 countries showing product (2014: 2,748).
Alongside these figures, Spielwarenmesse also stated that 78.3 per cent of trade visitors rated the benefits of attending the fair as high or very high, while 78 per cent were extremely happy with the overall impression of the fair. This feeling was shared by 81 per cent of the exhibitors, while 90 per cent of exhibitors intend to come back again.

Next year’s show will run from January 27th to February 1st, 2016.
