Board Game Club’s final event of 2014 attracted a crowd of more than 75 people, with new title Crokinole voted ‘game of the night’.
The Christmas Unwrapped event saw visitors don all manner of Christmas jumpers to play a selection of Christmas family favourites and ‘Boxing Day Boredom Busters’.
Alongside a special showcase of games from Drumond Park with dedicated tables for Shout! and LOGO Grab, the event also saw Esdevium Games and John Adams back the event with exclusive Dobble and Pig Out themed cocktails.
“After the heavy-duty strategy-game-tasticness of our Halloween event, our Christmas menu stripped things right back to what we know our crowd loves: a fun mix of fast-paced, giggle-inducing board, dice and party games," said co-founder of Board Game Club, Playtime PR’s Lesley Singleton.
"With everyone entering into the spirit of things (no doubt helped along by those branded cocktails), there was a lot of laughter over the Pig Out noses and a lot of love for classics like Articulate. The ‘game of the night’ vote actually went to Crokinole, an amazingly simple yet highly addictive game sent to us by Crokinole.me, who have just started distributing the beautiful Crokinole tables in the UK. This was closely followed by Man Bites Dog and Bucket of Doom, proving yet again that the creative, social party games remain firm favourites with our crowd.”
Alongside games inventors and independent games producers, the night welcomed its biggest crowd of toys and games brands yet, with attendees present from Big Potato, Cartamundi, Coiled Spring, Drumond Park, Esdevium Games, John Adams, Paul Lamond, University Games, Vivid Toys, Yay Games and XYZ Builds.
Co-founder and Toyologist Peter Jenkinson added: “It was great to see so many industry faces joining us for the Christmas bash and we’re getting brilliant feedback from everyone from first-time inventors – like the guys behind Trivia Tower and In A Bind – right through to the big brands, as well as all our press and public guests.
“We’ve already got massive plans for Board Game Club in 2015, which will include an event purely showcasing crowd-funding success stories, and we’re looking forward to hitting London Toy Fair next month and New York Toy Fair in February to seek out hot new titles for our ever-changing menu of games.”
