Family run toyshop spans three generations and offer toys from birth to adult to Leek locals and tourists alike.

Over the Rainbow named Good Toy Guide’s November Retailer of the Month

Independent toy retailer Over the Rainbow has been named the Good Toy Guide’s November Retailer of the Month.

Situated in the historical market town of Leek in Staffordshire, the family-run store has been awarded the accolade for its dedication to play across the generations.

Spanning three generations itself, Over the Rainbow is owned by Jane Powell, who runs the day-to-day business with her father, Lennox and her daughter Danielle.

“We pride ourselves on good customer service, which is lacking in so many multiple retailers now days,” said Powell.

“The store has gone from strength to strength and we have been able to alter our product offering due to customer requests and are always looking for something a little different.”

With the aim to provide educational, traditional and fun products for the family, Over the Rainbow offers toys and games for customers aged from birth to adult.

“Some of the brands that we sell are Schleich, Top Model, Playmobil, Britains, Orchard Toys, Puppet Company to name but a few,” continued Powell. “Next year, our plan is to have a website as lots of our visiting tourists have asked if we sell online.”

Child psychologist and director of Good Toy Guide, Dr. Amanda Gummer, added: “It’s great to see a toyshop spreading the value of play message to locals and tourists alike and we love the fact that the family business promotes play to all generations.

“You don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing (apologies to George Bernard Shaw if that’s not quite word perfect.)

“A hearty congratulations to Over the Rainbow, another well deserved winner of our Retailer of the Month accolade.”
