The firm behind the robotic racing car range, Anki Drive has called on the expertise of two veterans of the interactive entertainment industry.

Anki gears up for success with former Activision and EA executives

Anki, the team behind the battle-car racing game Anki Drive, is gearing up for success with a significant double appointment.

The firm has called on the expertise of Joby Otero, the former creative director for Activision’s Skylanders and Craig Rechenmacher, a veteran of Electronic Arts.

Otero joins the firm as its chief creative officer, while Rechenmacher steps in to the role of chief marketing officer.

The pair will now aim to step the Anki Drive line up a gear and deliver a more robust interactive experience for all players.

Anki has also revealed its plans to strengthen its gaming foundation and creative vision to bring ‘a new dynamic to the toy space.’

Billed as the next evolution in the toys to life category, Anki Drive cars feature in-built computers and cameras, enable the cars to steer and battle for themselves, as robot racers fight to outsmart their human competition.

“Anki Drive delivers an intense racing videogame experience in the real world as players battle against their friends and robot racers,” said Boris Sofman, Anki founder and CEO.

“Only with the power of robotics can we help usher in a new way of interactive play, one that exists in both the physical and virtual world.

"The team of videogame veterans we’ve assembled at Anki will help usher in richer gameplay environments, new character and story developments, and unique gameplay features that will only make the Anki DRIVE experience that much more exciting and unique.”
