WHSmith also saw new entertainment poster racks rolled out to an extensive store base last year which helped to maintain a double digit, year on year increase in poster sales growth. These projects alongside other initiatives will ensure both accounts are well positioned to further capitalise on the markets top performing licensed properties.

"Looking ahead, next year brings huge events movies like Star Wars Episode VII, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and the family favourite Minions Movie amongst others and Pyramid will be launching full ranges on all of these, thereby masterminding further sales initiatives for both Toys R Us and WHSmith.’

James Kyte, Pyramid’s UK sales manager, added: "Both agreements are testament to the strong support we receive from our licensors, the hard work of the Pyramid team and the faith which retailers place in us to take on key licensed categories such as posters, stationery and mugs and develop them into exciting ranges which appeal to fans across all ages.

"Pyramid is proud to be at the forefront of licensed product development in so many key areas and I am certain that our relationship with both WHSmith and Toys R Us will continue to be strengthened through our innovative approach towards NPD and retail strategy."
