ToyStop named the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month

Traditional toy retailer and purveyor of Wales’ largest LEGO selection, ToyStop has been named the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month.

Owned by two best friends, the Llanidloes-based toy shop has been awarded the accolade this month for its dedication to in-store presence, activities and play opportunities.

Alongside its collection of LEGO, the store also boasts products from over 50 suppliers, including Melissa and Doug, Britains, Galt, Green Board Games and more.

Rebekah Jones bought the store with her business partner and friend Tess at the beginning of the year, with the aim of stocking traditional wooden, fun and educational toys alongside new lines.

Since opening, the store has held in-store competitions every month, encouraging customers to decorate its themed windows.

“For dinosaur month, we had some amazing dinosaur pictures for the window that looked fantastic,” said Jones. “There is a different theme every month with something exciting throughout the month to reflect the theme.”

Divided in to separate rooms boasting different activities, ToyStop aims to excite customer and youngsters with an array of activities throughout the store, including craft rooms, developmental toys room, outdoor room and an outdoor activities area with hopscotch and pavement art.

The store also has many plans to expand in the New Year, with designs for an upstairs ten room, filled with games consoles, board games, jewellery and teen toys, as well as a child’s tea party in aid of the local children’s hospital.

“We want to make the shop as child friendly and accessible as possible and therefore have endeavored to ensure there is plenty to keep them occupied,” continued Jones.

“We are completely overwhelmed with the Retailer of the Month award.”

Dr. Amanda Gummer of the Good Toy Guide and Fundamentally Children, added: “It is lovely to see independent toy shops starting up and making themselves stand out with lots of fun activities and play opportunities in store.

“We are delighted that ToyStop is the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Monthfor September and wish them all the best for the new shop.”
