Hornby has produced a special replica 1950’s Tesco delivery van.
The van will be part of the Goodwood Revival celebrations, with Tesco gearing up to impress visitors with its 1960’s replica store and products.
The replica Tesco van will be sold alongside a lovingly restored full size 1950’s Albion delivery van. Hornby even managed to find original casts for a Pantechnicon van, which was widely used during the era.
The firm then used the original casts and reconfigured its manufacturing line to produce a one-off run of 3,000 vans.
The van will be sold in specially produced packaging inspired by traditional Hornby designs for £5.
Damien Collett, premiums manager at Hornby Hobbies, said: "We’ve been making toys and models for over 100 years so had plenty of experience to draw on when Tesco approached us to contribute to their stand at Goodwood Revival.
"We’ve really enjoyed recreating the famous van celebrating Tesco’s fabulous heritage, and hope that all the festival goers like it. We’re sure it’ll look the part at the Tesco toyshop, and that it will be a fantastic collectable keepsake for those who are lucky enough to get one on the day."
Natalia Munro, toy buyer at Tesco, added: "It’s been great working with Hornby to produce the replica van. They’ve got such a long history and were the perfect partner to make something really authentic. I’m sure that visitors to Goodwood will love being able to see the original van and its miniature counterpart."
