What started out as a playground craze has now taken the internet by storm as a Loom Band dress listed on Ebay has reached £170,000, with one day of bidding still to go.
The dress – constructed from around 20,000 elastic Loom bands – was first listed by a mother who was hoping to raise £50 to take her daughter out for a day.
Helen Wright has since then been “shocked” by the reaction to the dress that has now hit £170,100 on the online bidding site in just one week.
Wright had the idea after helping her 12 year old daughter Sian who is “mad” about making Loom Band designs, reports Wales Online.
“My friend Katherine physically made it because she’s out of work and gets bored,” said Wright.
“I said ‘why don’t we make a dress from Loom Bands’ and Katherine said she’d be happy to. She did an hour here or there in between her house work to keep her busy.”
The Loom Band dress now has just one day and six hours remaining on the bidding site, but something tells us that bidding will require a few weeks pocket money in the saving.
