Trolls are coming to the big screen.
No, not the bitter internet trawlers, but the popular toy line from the 1990s.
And DreamWorks Animation has revealed that Hollywood’s Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) will star as the integral Troll character, Princess Poppy.
The musical comedy will be directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Ever After) and is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016 from 20th Century Fox.
“Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice,” Mitchell told Variety.
“She will inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Trolls dolls.”
DreamWorks Animation paired up with Trolls rights holder Dam Things in 2013 to adapt the range into films and TV shows.
The Trolls dolls were first created in 1959 by Danish fisherman and woodcutter Thomas Dam as a present for his daughter.
