Hornby auctions ‘Great Gathering’ collection to support Toy Trust

Hornby Hobbies is auctioning a limited edition collection of models and hobby collectables in order to raise money for the BTHA’s Toy Trust.

The firm will be offering it’s limited edition set number 002 – a set of the six surviving LNER Class A4 locomotives dubbed the Great Gathering – on eBay, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Hornby reports that the first weekend of the live eBay auction has already ‘invited a frenzy of activity and significant interest.’

The Great Gathering collection was released to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Mallard setting the steam locomotive world speed record and was limited to only 510 sets across the globe.

With six days remaining the current bid stands at £2,150. The eBay auction ends on Sunday, February 23rd and can be followed online, here.
