Clarendon Games eyes 400 store count for products

Indie board game firm readies for nationwide launches

Independent board game company Clarendon Games has now launched two of its games nationwide.

Market Meltdown launched in the UK on a limited release last year and now the game – which sees players take on the role of a ruthless trader during the financial crisis – is being released nationwide.

“Market Meltdown launched in the UK on limited release last Christmas and became a huge smash hit,” Clarendon Games CEO Will Sorrell told ToyNews.

“The game launched in Hamleys on October 20th but – with our other game Perigon – will also launch nationwide in Waterstones and HMV. Counting the 100 or so independent stores that Market Meltdown’s already stocked in, the game will be in over 400 doors by the end of November.”

Market Meltdown was the best performing board game in Fortnum & Mason last year, and Clarendon has
been hard at work this year to build on the good start.

“We have been demonstrating the game up and down the country in festivals, stores, fairs and schools,” added Sorrell.

“We have found that customers and store buyers have been willing to take a chance on a brand new game from an independent board game company.”
