OnBuy outlines three month launch process

OnBuy entered the UK marketplace on November 1st, and MD Cas Paton has now detailed the complete three month process the firm is undertaking to entirely launch.

The first aim is to fully integrate the first traders who have joined the OnBuy family.

“This is a very large undertaking and will require several stages to be completed before the site is ‘launched’ in its entirety," said Paton.

"Firstly, we have to comb through and integrate all the product data we have received. Then we’ll open the checkout and begin trading. After this point we’ll start to develop; bringing fourth all the new marketplace features.

"We’ve been working closely with every single seller to help them create the best possible product data for customers, and achieve a high level of SEO."

The OnBuy staff are celebrating the early integrations of sellers who fall into the Electronics and Technology category. There are significantly more sellers who are trading consoles and games within the technology field, including those who have smartphone and tablet products to offer.

The next part of the launch is to open the checkout and make it available to the public.

"Toys and games are a close second to the Electronics and Technology category, so we’ll probably see the most part of consumer interest in this area first," added Paton.

OnBuy is also considering opening the checkout of the traders who have finalised their product listings with the OnBuy Content Team.

The checkout may be opened as early as next week for electronics and technology category according to OnBuy staff with other products in Toys and Games following.

Paton said: "We’re completing some of our initial aims a little earlier than expected, so we may be able to open the site for trading a lot faster.

"After we’ve got all our first sellers fully integrated, and we’ve opened the site to the public to make purchases we’ll be moving in to launching all the OnBuy Outlets."

The Outlets are planned to have their own community of brand sellers within a dedicated area of the site that celebrates all of the best attributes of each individual Outlet.

Alongside this, OnBuy also plans to advertise on television at some stage next year.
