Schleich signs worldwide licensing rights for DC Comics superheroes

Schleich has acquired the worldwide licensing rights to make and market toy figures based on the DC Comics superheroes.

The agreement is the first global partnership of its kind concluded by Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Entertainment.

The first wave of superheroes is scheduled for January 2015, with the line-up featuring characters such as Batman, Superman and their enemies.

The signing of the licence sees Schleich forging ahead with its planned expansion into the licensing sector, with the partnership with WBCP paving the way for the creation of a whole new range of DC Comics toy figurines.

"At Schleich we are always looking to acquire the licences for timeless brands with a strong global profile," said Dr Thomas van Kaldenkerken, Schleich CEO. "The chances are that all of us dreamed of being a superhero when we were young. And characters such as Superman and Batman enjoy an exceptional level of brand awareness around the world.

"That makes Warner Bros. Consumer Products an ideal partner for us."
