Kids India 2013 organisers are celebrating an event ‘surpassing all expectations’ as 108 toy companies exhibited to 5,327 buyers and retailers at Mumbai’s first every toy trade fair.
Spielwarenmesse eG has reported a positive response from all exhibitors, cementing the event as an important business platform for the growing Indian toy market.
Exhibitors presented toys, baby articles, licensed products, sports articles, leisure and hobby articlesin a 6,200 m2 exhibition area, organised by the Spielwarenmesse team with the support of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.
Sports Goods Export Promotion Council and The All India Toy Manufacturers Association also supported the new trade fair.
Ernst Kick, chief executive officer of Spielwarenmesse eG, said: "We are happy to have been able to support the development of the Indian toy market as a professional fair organiser.
"Thanks to the good co-operation with IGCC and our partner we experienced a trade fair that has immediately established itself as the country’s most important trade fair at its premiere."
Vivek Jhangiani, president of The All India toy Manufacturers Association, said: "Our association and our members have received enormous exposure at this event.
"This exposure has given an impetus to the Indian Toy industry to not only grow commercially but to also balance the social impact."
Kids India exhibitor, Stuart Whitehill, Overseas Fairs, account director of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, added: "We were very excited about the first edition of Kids India; we were hoping that it would present us with a fantastic opportunity to explore, understand and experience the huge potential of the Indian toy market – it did not disappoint."
Following the event’s success, the first registrations for the next trade fair to take place in Mumbai have already been submitted.
Kids India 2014 will take place from 18 to 20 September.
