Jian Yang began his collecting aged 13 with the 'Great Shape' Barbie

Singapore doll fan reveals 6,000 strong Barbie collection

A toy collector in Singapore has revealed his collection of more than 6,000 Barbie dolls, reports Reuters.

Jian Yang began his collecting aged 13 with the ‘Great Shape’ Barbie complete with spandex gym outfit and leg warmers.

"When you meet me outside of this, I’m not that kind of guy," said Yang.

"I’m not what you expect from a guy that collects dolls."

Yang has spend at least S$500,000 on the collection and outside of the Barbie stash, he also has hundreds of Bratz Girls, Monster High and Jem and the Holograms dolls.

His oldest Barbie dates from the early 1960s and the rarest he owns is a model sold only in boutiques of the Comme des Garcons fashion label.
