With a new game on the horizon and its popularity only growing, ToyNews rounds up some of the biggest toys to embrace the Skylanders licence.

This autumn/winter, Mega Bloks has a new range based around Skylanders Giants. The Hero Pack Series 2 brings two new characters – Cynder and Terrafin – to the range of collectible figures. The products come with Arkeyan enemy builds and base plates that can be connected to other packs.

There are also new additions to the Battle Portals Series II in the form of Stealth Elf, Erupter, Grunt and Drobot. Each lights up and can be joined up with the Ultimate Battle Arcade.

Also new is the Zeppelin Air Ship Assault, a buildable flying machine with a cannon that actually fires and Undead Giant character Eye-Brawl and his enemy, the Troll Greasemonkey pilot.

Back on ground level is the new Troll Tank Gun Down with rotating turret, opening canopy and spinning tyres. The set also comes with a buildable Flameslinger character. Also from Mega Bloks is Sprocket’s Heroic Turret, a buildable turret gun that launches items. The Chompy Bot Attack, meanwhile, is an enemy mech with working launchers, which includes a red chompy driver and Water Giant Thumpback character.

Rounding out the Mega Bloks collection, is the Arkeyan Robot King, which comes complete with a working Iron Fist launcher, a transforming Pop fizz figure, two chompies as well as a loot-filled treasure chest.

Skylanders fans can recreate their favourite characters in chocolate, thanks to Skylanders Giants Magic Choc.
The product picked up accolades at this year’s Innovation of the Year Awards and each kit provides consumers
with enough chocolate to make, and eat, three models.

Each kit contains a combination of dark, milk and white chocolate, as well as an anti bacterial wipe and a model ideas booklet.

The Skylanders Giants Magic Choc kit is priced at £4.99 and every pack includes a collectable Gold Coin.
This allows fans of the brand to create chocolate coins of their favourite Skylanders characters.

To coincide with the launch of Activision’s Skylanders Swap Force, Topps is bringing kids a range of Skylanders Swap Force Collector Cards.

The collection includes the complete team of 16 Swap Force characters, including Wash Buckler and Blast Zone.

The tops and bottoms of Swap Force characters can be exchanged to create new creatures, while the card series includes cards for all 256 swapabilities.

Packets of trading cards will retail at £1 for eight cards including a foil card in every packet. A starter pack featuring a trading card collector binder, collector guide with checklist, a packet of trading cards and a limited edition card will also be available for £4.99.

The Skylanders Giants Collectors Cards were popular at retail and this new series launching in September will hope to emulate that success. The series will feature 32 mirror foil cards including 16 brand new Skylanders, 8 new enemies, ‘colour-me-in’ cards and puzzle cards.

Penguin has a range of Skylanders books available for kids to read more about their favourite characters’ adventures.

The Skylanders Giants: Master Eon’s Official Guide provides gamers with hints, tips and comprehensive level run-downs for the Giants video game.

This month will also see the release of the Skylanders Universe Official Annual. The book brings stories, comics and trivia as well as a behind the scenes interview with I-Wei Juang, one of the creators of Skylanders.

September will see the launch of Pick Your Portal: The Trouble with Doubles and Master Eon’s Ultimate Skylanders Maze. Pick your Portal: The Trouble with Doubles is the first Skylanders book to adopt the ‘Pick Your Path’ format, where readers decide their own destiny by choosing from options at the end of every chapter. Master Eon’s Ultimate Skylanders Maze will challenge readers to seach for items across the crowded scenes in the book.

Finally, an A-Z of Skylanders is arriving in October and will contain a detailed look at the world of the video game, as well as an exclusive Trigger Snappy toy to use in game.

Winning Moves is introducing a dedicated Skylanders version of Monopoly, featuring all of the key characters.

Landing in September, the board will once again pit players against each other in a race to earn the most money and bankrupt opponents.

Vivid Toy Group is giving consumers the chance to collect Spyro, Eruptor, Gil Grunt and Trigger Happy in soft toy form or in the stretchable squishable form with its offerings this autumn/winter.

Also available are the Giant Skylanders Plush Assortment which includes Spyro and Eruptor.
Late autumn/winter will also see the launch of Swap Force plush, while squishable characters will also be on the way to complement the release of Activision’s Swap Force video game.

MV’s Skylanders wheeled toy collection includes an array of branded bikes, scooters, skateboards and cycle helmets.

Each product features bright artwork and characters from the Skylanders universe, making MV’s selection a good fit for Skylanders fans who are always on the move, according to the firm.
