New app is heading to Android and has been designed to help pre-schoolers with reading and writing

US: Hasbro unveils world’s first Play-Doh app

Hasbro has partnered with US pre-school company PlayDate Digital to launch the first Play-Doh educational app on Android.

Play Doh Create ABCs aims to incorporate the tactile experience of the classic compound in a digital and educational experience for children.

Fort Mill Times reports that the app, designed in collaboration with pre-school expert Dr Michael Cohen, helps with emerging language and pre-reading skills thanks to a Write and Craft mode, a Create and Share function and Letter Matching game.

The Write and Craft mode encourages children to draw out letters. Every successful letter made by the child transforms into a reward, allowing a child to create their own reward out of virtual Play-Doh. Players can then share their creations in the Create and Share zone.

Finally, the Letter Matching game allows kids to match the Play-Doh letters and pictures, and by grouping letters with objects that start with the same sound, the activity aims to reinforce initial letter sounds.

Currently available for iOS where it has over a 4.5 star average from consumers, the Android version is now available worldwide for $2.99.
