Firms take part in Northampton's annual Rotary Dragon Boat Festival in aid of the air ambulance.

DKL and Toymaster make a splash for charity

Last weekend saw DKL and Toymaster team up to take part in Northampton’s annual Rotary Dragon Boat Festival.

Held in aid of Warwickshire and Northamptionshire Air Ambulance, the charity has no Government support, so it is run on charity and volunteers.

DKL and Toymaster manned a Dragon Boat of ten rowers and a drummer to compete in the race against companies from all across the area. Each member had to raise money to sponsor the Air Ambulance and its valuable work.

"It was great fun to have DKL and Toymaster together representing the toy industry and supporting such a great charity," said Kai Hawaleschka, DKL’s MD. "It was a real family day, where families from both companies came and enjoyed the race and BBQ. Having 39 of Northampton’s companies take part in the day brought the community together."

Toymaster’s Ian Edmunds added: "A fantastic time was had by all, although there are a few aching muscles and more than a little sunburn today. At least we didn’t capsize and for a team of complete novices, I think we all did really well – although I don’t think anyone will be giving up their day job."
