Toy firm credits rise in sales to heatwave gripping the country; other retailers report 300 per cent increase in outdoor products sales.

John Adams sees ‘phenomenal’ lift in outdoor toy sales

John Adams has reported a ‘phenomenal’ uplift in sales of its Intex range of Above Ground Pools and inflatables.

The firm is crediting the uplift in sales to the latest heatwave to hit the UK.

Simon Pilkington, MD of John Adams, said: "Our biggest growth in sales is coming from the independent retail sector where we are seeing a huge increase in sales for 2013 compared to 2012.

"There is no doubt that the sudden rise in temperatures and everyone getting outside has had a major impact on trading so far this year and we can only hope this wave of good weather continues over the coming months and we can look to bring in a new exciting range for swing/summer 2014."

Saturday, July 13th was reportedly the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures at 30 degrees celcius and above.

The BBC reports that some retailers in Wales have seen a 300 per cent surge in sales of outdoor goods.
