Business on the High Street remains tough through June, says BDO

Unseasonal weather in June and cautious consumers meant Britain’s High Streets were still a tough place to do business last month, according to BDO.

Figures released in BDO’s monthly High Street Sales Tracker show overall like for like High Street sales grew by just 0.7 per cent year on year in June.

Sales in the fashion sector continued to struggle, dipping 1.1 per cent year on year, however strong figures in the homewares and non fashion sectors – up 6.7 per cent and 8.6 per cent respectively – helped the overall picture by pulling it back to a broadly flat position.
